IPL-BBL-Photofacials treatment | Resurgence Wellness in Arlington, TX

If you could wave a magic wand to make your skin imperfections disappear and appear more youthful, would you do it? Of course, you would.  Who wouldn’t?

Sadly magic wands don’t exist, but IPL and BBL Photofacials do, and those treatments use the magic of science to rejuvenate your skin and give you a more youthful, glowing appearance!

So what are these “magic wand” treatments, and how can they help rejuvenate your skin? Keep reading to find out!

Want to go filter-less in your next selfie? Try an IPL or BBL photofacial treatment!

Photofacials like IPL & BBL help to reverse signs of aging by penetrating deep into the layers of skin and altering it at a cellular level.

After we hit our 20’s our skin stops producing about 1% less collagen each year.  Collagen is what keeps our skin looking fresh, youthful, and replenished. Unfortunately, with the natural loss of collagen combined with sun exposure, harsh chemicals, and environmental factors (aka, pollution), our skin starts to lose elasticity and looks dull and wrinkled.

Serums, lotions, and gels can help the skin’s surface but don’t help kickstart our collagen reproduction.  This is where the IPL and BBL photofacial treatments take the stage!

To understand the benefits of these revolutionary treatments, we must first discuss what those letters stand for and the science behind the technology.

IPL Photofacial

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light.  Using a handheld device, your skincare professional moves along the area of concern to deliver controlled pulses of broad-spectrum lights that penetrate deep into the layers of the skin.

This treatment has been FDA-approved since the 1990s and is considered as one of the most effective non-invasive rejuvenation treatments available on the market. In addition, this facial is less expensive than other similar treatments, and results can last between 6 months to a year.

BBL Photofacial

Like an IPL Photofacial, there is a newer technology called a BBL Photofacial.  BBL Stands for BroadBand Light and is a powerful and precise light-based device that can be used for personalized treatments. This is what differentiates the two treatments from each other. The proprietary technology allows the treatment to block specific wavelengths with filters to deliver the custom treatment.

Benefits of IPL/BBL

When you decide that you’d like to get an IPL/BBL photofacial treatment, you want to first discuss your options with an aesthetic professional. Even though this treatment works on all skin types, those with recently tanned skin (from natural sunlight or tanning beds), those with melasma and dark patches, and those with a high Fitzpatrick Scale score should avoid this type of treatment until their professional deems it beneficial.

Those who seek this treatment see benefits, including:

  • Less discoloration and more even skin tone
  • Assistance with sun damage
  • Correction of vascular lesions
  • Lessening and elimination of brown spots, rosacea
  • Reduction in the appearance of stretch marks, acne scars, fine lines, and wrinkles.

For maximum results, you will want to receive 3-5 treatments spread about 4 weeks apart.  After this, you will want to visit your medspa or aesthetics lounge every 6 months for maintenance and upkeep.

Once you’ve received this treatment, your skin begins to change at a cellular level, turning thin and weakened skin into strong, healthy, and rejuvenated skin.  The more you maintain this treatment regime, the more your skin will change and the better results you’ll see.

The Treatment Process

When you come in for your treatment, you will be given protective eyewear, and a gel will be placed on the treatment area: face, neck, or chest.

Your aesthetic professional will then take the handheld device and begin the process of emitting lightwaves to the skin.  As it pulses, you may feel a slight tingling sensation like the snapping of a rubber band, but the treatment is virtually pain-free, and many feel no discomfort at all during treatment.

Depending on the area, your treatment will last anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour, and you will enjoy the benefit of zero downtime after the treatment has ended.

An additional benefit to this treatment is that you can receive other aesthetic treatments like light chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and facials, because the light penetrates deeper into the skin, treatments that target the superficial layers can also be given.
