Is A Vampire Facial Good For Your Skin?

Vampire Facial treatment | Resurgence Wellness in Arlington, TX

A Vampire Facial sounds crazy, right? In 2013 Kim Kardashian posted a selfie after getting a Vampire Facial, and the aesthetic world exploded with this popular treatment.

Since then, its popularity has gained more traction as more and more medspas have added this treatment to their list of services.

So what exactly is a Vampire Facial, and is it actually beneficial or just a trendy treatment?

Let’s break down what a Vampire Facial is, the treatment process, and the results you’ll receive.

What Is A Vampire Facial?

No, we don’t have Edward Cullen locked away to suck your blood. Bummer.

In all seriousness, a Vampire Facial is a type of Microneedling treatment that uses your own blood to stimulate the body’s healing process and leave you with healthy glowing skin.

A Vampire Facial takes Microneedling and kicks it up a notch by combining it with a PRP treatment. PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma.

Platelet Rich Plasma is created when your own blood is put through a centrifuge and separates the blood and plasma from one another.

Platelet Rich Plasma is beneficial because it is packed with abundant growth factors that stimulate the body’s healing process!

Vampire Facial Process

So now that you know what a Vampire Facial is, let’s talk about the process.

When you arrive for your treatment, a small amount of blood will be taken from your arm. As we said above, it will then be put into a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the blood.

After that, your treatment will officially begin. First, your Aesthetician will cleanse your skin and prep it for the Microneedling process.

They will use microscopic needles to create micro-tears in the skin. While they do this, they are also injecting your PRP into the skin through the tip of the needle.

By adding your PRP into the skin, you enhance the body’s healing process and trick your skin into healing more quickly.

Once the Microneedling is completed, they will also add your PRP to the top of the skin- which is why you see those blood-filled selfies when you Google this treatment.

This helps the skin and acts as a sort of facial, utilizing all the goodness that Platelet Rich Plasma provides.

So now you’ve got micro-tears in your skin, filled with PRP. What happens next?

The Results Of A Vampire Facial

A Vampire Facial is highly beneficial for your skin and is an effective way to get a healthy, glowing complexion.

As your skin goes into the healing process, it works with the PRP to stimulate Collagen and Elastin. As a result, the micro-tears will be healed, and in place, tighter, smoother, and clearer skin will emerge.

Vampire Facials are beneficial for many different reasons, including:

  • Healing acne scars
  • Reducing fine lines and wrinkles
  • Minimizing the appearance of age spots and sun damage
  • Boosting collagen production for tighter, younger-looking skin
  • To reduce signs of aging
  • Reducing oil production that results in blackheads and acne.

Depending on different factors, it may take about a week to fully heal and reap the benefits.

To heal properly, stay out of direct sunlight (the top layer of your skin has been compromised and is more susceptible to sunburn and skin damage) and use light, colorless, fragrance-free moisturizer. Do not put on makeup until you are fully healed.

Another great benefit of a Vampire Facial is the long-lasting results. Unlike regular facials, which are great for maintenance and aesthetic purposes, you only need to do Vampire Facials about every 4 months.
